A beautiful and showy, fine quality classic specimen of the famous Tarnowitzite specimens from the prolific Tsumeb Mine. At one time Tarnowitzite was defined as its own species, but today it's classified as a variety of Aragonite with lead content. This piece hosts excellent, sharp, well-formed, LUSTROUS prismatic, beautifully terminated crystals with minor green Malachite on matrix. The crystal habit is indicative of the material. The crystals range in color from a light golden hue at the base to a nearly pure white color on the terminations. The largest Tarnowitzite measures 2.6 cm long, and the vast majority of them are damage free. These crystals also fluoresce a beautiful hue in short wave UV light. A great specimen, and much better in person! From an old East Coast collection, priced at $3,500 in the inventory. You never see these on the market anymore, especially such supreme matrix display pieces like this.
