Item Description

For a time, Tarnowitzite was considered to be a valid species, but today it's classified as a variety of Aragonite with lead content, though not specifically plumbian-Aragonite. This is beautiful and showy, fine quality classic specimen of the famous Tarnowitzite specimens from the prolific Tsumeb Mine, which produced the finest examples eve seen. This small cabinet hosts excellent, sharp, well-formed, rather lustrous, beautifully terminated, pseud-hexagonal crystals with minor yellow-green Duftite on a thin layer of matrix. The pearly white color and eye-catching crystal habit is indicative of the material. The largest Tarnowitzite measures 1.4 cm, and the vast majority of them are damage free. These crystals also fluoresce a beautiful hue in short wave UV light. A great specimen, and much better in person! You almost never see these on the market anymore, especially such attractive matrix display pieces like this.
