Item Description
Well-crystallized Tarnowitzite (Plumboan Aragonite) produces attractive specimens that are uncommon and sought-after. These sharp, hexagonal crystals are terminated, lustrous, and the off-white color displays nicely. Ranging up to 1.2 cm, the Tarnowitzite crystals are richly and evenly spread across the matrix. Some crystals are jauntily splayed in different directions, which adds definite character and interest to the aesthetics. Tsumeb has produced some of the best, if not the best, Tarnowitzite specimens, and this small-cabinet specimen upholds that tradition. There is nice, bluish-white fluorescence, which is attractive and typical for the species. Previously in the significant collection of Wilhelm Kegel, Director of Mining Operations at Tsumeb from 1924 to 1933.
