Item Description

Two generations of aragonite form this amazing arborescent and large 360-degree stalactitic cave aragonite specimen from this historic open pit siderite (iron) mine. A fantastic myriad of branching, diverging stalactitic 'stalks' are capped by spherical aragonite 'bulbs' or 'flowers". These helictitic aragonite cave formations are called Flos Ferri, meaning "flowers of iron" and were originally reported from this famous locale (MINDAT). This stunning piece is complete all-around and is essentially pristine. This mine has produced some of the world's finest examples of Flos Ferri and this is an outstanding example. Ghostly white fluorescence. Every turn presents a dramatically different perspective to this exotic piece.
