Item Description

These attractive and unique gems are only found in one place in the world. We first started seeing these gems appear on the market in 2017, an our good friend in Lima was able to get his hands on a small parcel for us. They are certainly some of the most interesting and alluring gems to come out of any locality in recent years. The locals call them "Perumar", because of its similarity to the famous blue/white Larimar (Pectolite) gems from the Dominican Republic. These attractive and unique gems, according to our friend, are a mixture of Aragonite and Strontianite This discovery in Peru seemed to be very limited, as we were only able to get our hands on a few stones. This "Oval Cabochon" cut gem shows gentle alternating bands of white, silvery and blue hues, and when the stone is backlit, it shows a more vivid aqua blue tone in areas. It's somewhat suitable for jewelry (probably best set into a pendant), and would make a great addition to your gem collection as almost no one else has it.
