Aragonite / Strontianite (''Perumar'')

This stone dates back to 2017. We purchased it along with a few others in a small parcel of from a good friend in Lima. These attractive and unique gems, according to our source, are a mixture of Aragonite and Strontianite and the locals are marketing it as "Perumar" due to the fact that it resembles the banded / swirling blue and white "Larimar" (Pectolite) gems from the Dominican Republic. This find in Peru seemed to be very limited, as we were only able to get our hands on a few stones. This cabochon cut gem shows gentle flowing bands of alternating white and blue hues, and when the stone is backlit, it shows a more vivid aqua blue tone in areas. It's somewhat suitable for jewelry (probably best set into a pendant), and would make a great addition to your gem collection as almost no one else has it.
