Item Description
Stunning, vivid neon-pink aragonite fluorescence is a highlight to grab attention here on this outstanding combination specimen from Sicily but it is also a significant Aragonite in its own right. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1993, though it is much older and this material usually is dated to finds in the 1800s. Chet's catalogue entry says it all: "A superb specimen bearing a group of sharp, pseudo-hexagonal, sixling-twinned aragonite crystals." The glassy, translucent, terminated mint-green crystals reach 1.8 cm and are dramatically accented by the contrasting massive sulfur. Aragonite combination specimens of this quality are RARE from the historic sulfur mines of Caltanissetta Province. This particular crystallization style of the aragonite is very prized, and we have seen only a handful in decades of dealing. They are, in person, really subtle and complex. The contrast to the sulfur is a nice visual bonus. Valued highly.
