Item Description
Aragonite is VERY RARE from any of the famous copper mines of Katanga! Aragonite crusts cover the rich fields of translcuent, green rice grain-shaped smithsonite crystals, that are festooned on the striking, sculptural, multi-level, slipper-shaped, boxwork gossan matrix. Malachite on the top and bottom adds much contrast and pizzazz to this extreme rarity from the Kay Robertson Collection # 1829 and acquired in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). RARE, old-time Katanga combination material!
