Item Description

Here we have a rarely seen, eye-catching and sculptural group of cream colored Aragonite from this extinct California Pb-Cu-Au-Ag-Zn-Mn mine, that intermittently operated from 1918 to 1952. This striking small cabinet sized piece features flowing clusters of elongated almost tabular Aragonite crystals which change into more stubby formations, with a bit of attached matrix. One of the VERY few examples of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions. A cool rare locality specimen for any fan of California minerals.
Ex Bob Reynolds collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
