Item Description

A really cool specimen of semi-stalactitic Aragonite from Santa Eulalia. These specimens are sometimes referred to as "cave" pieces. This specimen is filled with dozens upon dozens of semi-spherical groups of Aragonite in an almost arborescent-like / organic formation. It somewhat reminds me of a sea sponge. Very good condition all the way around with the only damage / roughness being on the bottom where it was removed from the wall. A few small spots of brown Limonite can be seen on the top of the piece, but the majority of the specimen is pristine and white. The label accompanying the piece states that this is Aragonite sitting on Hyalite Opal, and when the piece is exposed to SW UV light, it does glow a green color, so it very well could be Hyalite (technically Opal-AN), but it's not reported from Santa Eulalia. Please note: Due to the larger size and weight of this specimen, there will be an additional shipping charge, so please keep this in mind when bidding. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
