Aragonite included with ''Chlorite''

Item Description

Here we have a rarely seen "Alpine-type" specimen of Aragonite included with "Chlorite" from the famed Alchuri locality in Pakistan. I've only seen a handful of these over the years, and they are notably fine quality for the material, and better than any true Alpine pieces I can remember seeing from Europe. This specimen is composed of a somewhat radiating aggregate of sharp, well-formed, pseudo-hexagonal crystals of Aragonite measuring up to 1.3 cm, which has dark grey-green inclusions of "Chlorite", and no matrix. There are a few minor contacts on the front, and one point of attachment on the back where it was presumably connected to the pocket wall, where you can see the original white hue of the Aragonites internally. A very choice example of this highly elusive material.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#49 AP), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
