The often-intricate forms of helictitic, cave Aragonite, widely affectionately known as Flos Ferri for hundreds of years in collections and museums, rarely cease to amaze. Styrian Erzberg has produced some of the world's best, with the curved and contorted white Aragonite creating sublime specimens. This dramatic, 360-degree specimen stirs the imagination about its shapes and can go anywhere your mind takes you. For me, it rather looks like one of those fabulous, all-from-one-piece, mind boggling, Chinese jade carvings. Originally reported from Styrian Erzberg, the Aragonite of Flos Ferri style even has bright green fluorescence where exposed, not unlike the intense green of Hyalite Opal. Just a gorgeous piece! From the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
