Item Description
A beautiful and fine quality complete "floater" of Aragonite from this classic locality in Spain featuring intergrown sharp, lustrous, translucent pseudo-hexagonal (they're actually cyclic twinned groups) crystals of Aragonite showing a combination of light lilac shades and reddish-brown tones due to iron oxide inclusions. As mentioned, the piece is a complete "floater", crystallized all around with not point of attachment or any damage that I can see. The overall form of the piece combined with the glistening luster of the crystals themselves makes this a very desirable and choice example of these wonderful specimens. It should be noted that this piece is not from any contemporary discoveries, as it dates back to at least the 1970s.
From the collection of the well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado, Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007). Rich was the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate species, Kosnarite.
