Aragonite (Copper-bearing) (RARE locality specimen)

Item Description

A very hard to find, and fine quality display specimen of beautiful soft green colored, translucent, thin prismatic crystals of Aragonite (Copper-bearing) measuring up to 1.7 cm on a bit of oxidized matrix. It's the only matrix specimen I can remember having to offer in the auctions. These specimens were found circa 1999-2000 and to the best of my knowledge, there was a single pocket and they were never found again. If you collect carbonates or Chinese minerals, this is a fine quality rare locality specimen from an isolated discovery, so don't miss out. It's the only one we have to offer, and you can only find them in an expansive deep collection like Kurt's.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#348 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
