Aragonite (Copper-bearing) (New Find!)

Item Description

Aragonite is essentially a lower temperature form of Calcite (both are calcium carbonate), and it is not always found in fine crystallized specimens. Most Aragonites are typically white or off-white in color, but this piece features the most desirable combination of fine crystals along with a beautiful pastel blue color (due to minor copper content in the Aragonite). The crystals have formed eye-catching "sprays" comprising, thin individual bladed crystals, with only a tiny bit of stark black matrix underneath. The majority of the Aragonite crystals are in very good shape. Overall, a very attractive and fine quality example of these gorgeous specimens from Wenshan. From a new find in mid 2022.
