Aragonite (Copper-bearing) (2022 discovery)

Item Description

Aragonite is fairly common calcium carbonate minerals, but it's not always found in crystallized specimens. A good number of Aragonites around the world are typically white or off-white in color. This piece comes from a fairly recent find (2022) at the Wenshan Mine and features the most desirable combination of fine crystals along with a beautiful pastel blue color (due to minor copper content). The crystals have formed eye-catching "sprays" comprising, thin individual bladed crystals, which are sitting nicely on contrasting matrix. The majority of the Aragonites are in very good shape, though it is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Overall, a very showy and fine quality example of these gorgeous specimens from Wenshan.
