Aragonite (Copper-bearing)

Item Description

An appealing cabinet sized specimen from a discovery circa 2015 featuring light blue Aragonite from Wenshan, the same locality where the attractive blue Hemimorphites have been found. Just like the Hemimorphites, these gorgeous and now famous blue Aragonites get their color from the copper content. The piece hosts eye-catching baby blue colored botryoidal groups of Aragonite, free of matrix. If you look at the side of the piece you can see how the Aragonites formed in semi-radiating layers with subtle variations in color that range from virtually white to the aforementioned baby blue shade. The color, form and overall quality of the Aragonites allows the piece to almost "glow" with a brightness that you don't often associate with the material.
