Aragonite (Copper-bearing)

Item Description

The well-known examples of copper-bearing Aragonite from the Wenshan Mine in China are some of the most iconic examples of the species found in recent memory. Most of the piece pieces are found in somewhat amorphous, stellate or "flos ferri" style formations, but this piece has defined botryoidal form. Additionally, it's a rarely seen MATRIX specimen, most of the Aragonites from this locality are loose off matrix. Lastly, the color in this specimen is a bit different from most we've seen from this mine as they tend to have more of blue shade, and this one has a bit more of a green overtone. The largest "ball" measures about 7 mm, and nearly all of them are pristine. It may not be the most thrilling specimen in the world, but it's distinctly different from the vast majority of Wenshan Aragonites, and it would make a great addition to any carbonate suite or a collection of Chinese minerals.
