Item Description

An impressive and sculptural large dense intergrown cluster of cyclically-twinned pseudo-hexagonal apatite crystals from the famous Type Locality in Spain. The crystals are lustrous and translucent. The bodies are a nice lavender color, which grades to a light gray at the terminations. The striking larger crystals on the edges are doubly terminated and reach 2.6 cm. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 9035 and acquired from well-known English dealer Gregory, Bottley & Company in May, 1980. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). She passed away in 2020. A classic, very fine and rich older two-sided aragonite from the Type Locality.
