Aragonite (Belsky Coll.)

Item Description

Glassy, colorless, aragonite lathes in nifty sprays richly and aesthetically cover the matix plate on this fine specimen from the Howard Belsky Collection. Both of the labels with the piece say Moravicza, Hungary, but Moravicza is in the Banat Mountains of Romania and MINDAT does not list aragonite for this locale. The specimen is possibly from Cavnic, Romania or an unknown Hungarian locality. Since this piece is from the Communist Era in Eastern Europe, the correct locality may not have been reported to Schortmanns.
