Item Description

Aragonite specimens of this superior quality are very rare from the famous Eden Mills Quarry (VAG or Vermont Asbestos Group Mine). Two distinctively different aragonite varietals are richly and attractively scattered on the sculptural matrix. The snow-white sprays of lustrous, spiky, aragonite scalenohedrons are striking and beautiful in their simplicity and are well-complimented by the tufted clusters of tiny, creamy-white scalenohedrons. A label indicates the piece was collected in the 1950s. Classic and rare material. This fine specimen was in the Eden Mills case at the 2008 American Mineral Treasures Exhibition at Tucson. It is also illustrated in the May-June, 2008 issue of the Mineralogical Record on Page 213. Valued at $500.
