Item Description
Originally labeled as Aragonite from Queensland, we have been informed that this is Calcite from New South Wales instead! I will say that the style and color and certainly unique, and unlike anything I can remember seeing in any other Australian locality. This small cabinet specimen hosts several aggregates of soft green-colored (copper-bearing?) Calcite, sitting on a layer of Calcite matrix, with a bit of "smoky" colored rhombic Calcite on the underside. The Calcite groups show a few different habits of growth, as they are somewhat stalactitic in their formation, but more botryoidal on the upper portions, and highlighted by thin-bladed crystals on the top-most portions of the piece. No major damage I can see, and it's complete all around. Very eye-catching and certainly unusual and distinctive.
From the collection of Colin Manlove.
