Item Description

The Shigar Valley in Pakistan has produced what are some of the finest specimens of gem quality Aquamarine in the world, and without question the most impressive matrix display specimens. This storied area high the mountains has been the source of these amazing Aquas for a few decades now. This piece is a spectacular association specimen with a very rare combination/inclusion. The predominant, sharp, GEM quality, soft blue color, slightly compressed, hexagonal prismatic crystal of Aquamarine on this specimen would be enough to make any collector excited, but if you look near the upper portion, you'll see there is a gemmy green cuboctahedral crystal of FLUORITE frozen inside! I have literally seen thousands of Aquamarines from Pakistan over the years, and I can't remember a piece quite like this one. Sure, I've seen Aquamarine and Fluorite crystals together on the same specimen, but not a Fluorite crystal included within an Aquamarine like this. Not only is this an incredibly rare occurrence in the mineral world, but the piece itself is a highly aesthetic display specimen which sits beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay! The matrix is composed sharp, lustrous, gemmy hexagonal Quartz prisms along with narrow, jet-black crystals of Schorl (Tourmaline) on blocky white Albite. It should be noted that the Schorl crystals are not terminated, and were most likely contacted when the specimen was removed from the pocket. The Aquamarine is in superb condition, and the only roughness is on the base of the crystal, presumable where it was connected to the pocket before it was collected. If you collect gem crystals, worldwide Beryls, minerals of Pakistan or fine quality showy display specimens, do not miss out on this fantastic, rare and show-stopping specimens from this prolific specimen-producing part of the world. Originally priced in our inventory at $9,500.
