Item Description
A wonderful Aquamarine specimen from a parcel that came out in 2002. I remember purchasing the pieces from this lot and, when I was selecting these Aquamarine specimens, I looked for top quality or unusual associations. This specimen is well balanced and highly aesthetic display piece consisting of a thick, tabular hexagonal Aquamarine crystal with good light aqua blue color, fine luster and sharpness plus a really unique rippled basal termination. Many Aquas have either completely smooth terminations or heavily etched terminations, but this one, while being completely crystallized, is especially unique as it has an almost bubbly uneven termination. The crystal may look opaque in the photos, but it is definitely translucent and even gemmy in areas. To top it off, the Aqua is associated with a few lustrous flattened hexagonal prisms of light purple Fluorapatite at the base. I've seen Topaz associated with Fluorapatite from this locality, but this is the FIRST piece I've seen with this most unusual association of Aquamarine with Apatite ! A great association specimen from this well known pegmatite. Priced at $950 in the inventory.
