Item Description

This locality has produced some of the most unique specimens from China. They are signature pieces for this vast specimen producing country. Pingwu might be best known for its unique and high quality Aquamarine crystals, which are sometimes assocaited with Cassiterite. The top Cassiterites from this mine are incredible and world class for the species. This attractive small cabinet specimen hosts a thick, tabular, lustrous, gemmy, icy blue (nearly colorless) hexagonal crystal of Aquamarine measuring 2.5 cm across which is associated with shimmering, jet-black, cyclic twinned crystals of Cassiterite sitting atop crystallized silvery bladed Muscovite matrix. The quality is very good all around with no major damage I can see. A great piece of this iconic material from this special locality. Valued at $1,700. We recently acquired this specimen from a prominent Midwest mineral collection.
