Item Description
There are a good number of localities that produce fine quality Aquamarine crystals, but most of them are elongated prisms. The distinctive and attractive Aquamarine specimens from the Pingwu Mine have the distinction of being notably tabular in habit, which is rarely seen in Aquamarine. The best of these specimens are some of the finest matrix Aquas around. This specimen host several, sharp, gemmy, pale sky blue, tabular crystals of Aquamarine which are associated with beautifully contrasting white, blocky crystals of Albite and minor bladed silvery crystals of Muscovite. The largest Aquamarine crystal measures 1.7 cm across. The Aqua crystals are very good quality and feature beautiful first order pyramidal modifications. This specimen was VERY difficult to photograph, but take my word for it, it's better in person. For the size, aesthetics and quality, this a lovely specimen that would make a nice addition to any collection. From the collection of legendary Colorado miner, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but mined all over Colorado and was most famously the former the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
