Item Description
A rarely seen specimen of Aquamarine from the Beryl Mountain Quarry in New Hampshire. This small cabinet sized specimen is a somewhat crude crystal group of soft greenish-blue colored, prismatic Aquamarine free of matrix. With good backlighting, the piece shows decent translucency. If you collect worldwide Beryls, minerals of New England, or unusual locality specimens for well-known species, do not miss out on this hard to find specimen from this lesser known pegmatie locality that dates back to the 1820's. An interesting note, this locality has produced some incredibly large single crystals of Beryl, one such example found in 1837 by Francis Alger measured 4 feet by 5 inches (122 cm x 12.5 cm) across a single prism face.
