Item Description
A rarely seen specimen of Aquamarine from the Pack Rat Mine. This small cabinet sized specimen is a sharp, rather lustrous, well-formed, hexagonal prismatic crystal group, free of matrix. The centers of the crystals has an almost "milky"/"wispy" appearance, but the thin outer edges are very gemmy, nearly transparent. There are a few small nicks, so the piece is not pristine, but it's still very good quality. The back of the piece has a separation mark where it was either attached to the pocket wall or another Aquamarine crystal. A wonderful example of these elusive and desirable specimens from this lesser known locality. If you collect Aquamarines/Beryls, pegmatite minerals, or San Diego County minerals, this is an excellent example to add to your collection. Priced at $1,000. From the collection of Bill Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill is synonymous with minerals of San Diego County, and owned and operated famous mines such as the Stewart Lithia, the Tourmaline Queen, the Pala Chief and the Himalaya, producing some of the most iconic mineral specimens to come out of the area during the 1970s-1980s. Bill is also known as "Burma Bill" and traveled the world for decades in search of fine gems and minerals, and was directly involved in the in-person acquisition and importation of superb specimens and stones from Myanmar (Burma).
