Item Description

Here we have a beautiful, desirable and rarely seen example of faceted Aquamarine from the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. The rough from which this stone was cut was collected in the late 1970s by Rich Kosnar, who mined for Aquamarine in the Sawtooths for a few summers and found some excellent pieces, including some beautiful gem rough material. Most of the crystals found in this area are not completely transparent, so it's hard to find crystals that are clean enough to produce good quality gems like this. Although these crystals have some of the finest color you'll see in Aquamarine, the stones are not always flawless. It is very hard to find gems that are over 1 carat with good color and clarity. This particular stone has a "Round Brilliant" cut with very slight inclusions and a beautiful light blue shade. A nice stone for anybody who likes Aquamarine, gems from the United States or a nice candidate to pair up with a crystal from this area for a nice "rough and cut" set.
