Aquamarine gems are found all over the world, but some of the finest examples of gem quality Aquamarine from the United States are those from the famous Mt. Antero locality in Colorado, along with the nearby neighbor, Mt. White which have been sources of gem material for over 100 years. The stones from Mt White are rarer than those from Antero, as they are found less frequently. I can honestly count the number of faceted Aquas that I've seen from Mt. White on both hands in my life. This stone is a beautiful custom faceted example with a "Modified Keystone" cut, and an enticing sky blue color, but what makes it really special is the fact that it has a "Fantasy" cut. This style of cutting is where the underside/pavilion/culet area of the gem has actually been carved to create beautiful geometric patterns, freeform designs or unique shapes that are seldom seen in any colored stones on the market today. Fine quality, and a rare locality make this a very desirable stone, and it's also the birthstone for March, so it could make a great gift idea for anybody with a March birthday. Keep in mind that U.S. gems, are high in demand, and it doesn't matter if it's Benitoite from California, Rhodochrosite from the Sweet Home Mine, Hiddenite from North Carolina, Sapphires from Montana, etc., people are buying material from the United States at a higher rate than any point in history.
