Item Description

A really intereseting and unique gem crystal specimen from the mine that is best known for producing some amazing Tourmaline specimens. This piece really is a "fool you" kind of specimen because at first glance, one might think they're looking at a strange "Faden" habit Quartz specimen, but upon closer inspection, you can see that it has a pale greenish-blue overtone, which would not be associated with Quartz. Upon closer inpsection you can see it's actually a gorgeous partially etched specimen of very gemmy, greenish-blue Aqumarine, but the etching pattern has given the appearance of an "Alpine-type" "Faden" Quartz with small "tooth"-like points running along the sides of the piece similar to the hexagonal terminations of Quartz crystal. The actual "Faden" line is more of an optical illusion as most of it is simply an internal reflection of the etching pattern. If you collect odd gem crystals or simply crystal oddities, this is a really unusual and special little example of how minerals always surprise us with their unique forms and odd habits. Valued at $900.
