Item Description

If you go back 40 years, the concept of owning a good GEM quality MATRIX specimen of Aquamarine was quite uncommon. Prior to Pakistan, most of the Aquamarine crystals in the world from places like Brazil or Russia were loose singles off matrix. This beautiful and showy cabinet display specimen features an 8.8 cm long crystal of soft powder blue color Aquamarine with sharp lustrous faces and good internall gemminess. The crystal stands proudly on a thick blocky cream colored crystal of Microcline with minor associated bladed white Albite (var: Cleavelandite) plus minor Quartz and Schorl. The Microcline crystal is not 100% complete, but it's partially recrystallized on both ends. The Aqua has wonderful presence with a "sword in the stone" style appearance. I can see a few tiny contacts on the termination of the Aqua, but it's in great shape overall. The surface has a combination of smooth lustrous faces and slight surface etching. One rarely sees an Aqua sitting on a bit Microcline crystal like this, and this piece certainly stands out amongst so many other Pakistani Aquas out there, and due to the pleasing aesthetic balance of the piece, it would show beautifully in a display case. Priced in the inventory at $5,000.
