Item Description
When it comes to Aquamarine, Pakistan is the most productive country for specimens in the modern age of mineral collecting. Some of the very finest quality Aquamarine specimens come from the various pegmatites in the Pakistani Himalayas, especially in the Shigar Valley. This piece hosts a good quality, 7.7 cm., sharp,, somewhat blocky, strong blue color Aquamarine crystal, aesthetically sitting on crystallized, porcelain-esque white Albite matrix with minor silvery bladed Muscovite. The interesting aspect of the piece is the fact that the crystal was actually broken in the pocket due to tectonic activity underground, yet recrystallized at the base, so it's not broken. The piece is not a world class killer, but is a BIG specimen with great color and aesthetics. Were it not for the fact that the main crystal is a bit frosted and not totally gemmy, the specimen would easily be valued at around $5,000-$6,000, but for the sake of the auctions, it's not going to be valued as high. If you're in the market for a large display specimen of a colorful gem mineral, look no further. A two-handed display specimen like this does not come along very often, and people do not appreciate matrix Aquamarines from Pakistan like they should, especially since there are almost no other world localities that produce matrix display specimens for Aqua like Pakistan! PLEASE NOTE: Due to the size and weight of this specimen, and additional shipping charge will be added to the total. Enjoy.
