Aquamarine in Perthite (classic locality) Whitmore Coll.

Item Description

An exceptional matrix aquamarine for this old and classic beryl locality! This 5.5 cm, UNREPAIRED, sharply terminated crystal has lovely color, form and is nicely translucent. The aqua is very aesthetically set in the edge of the matrix. The matrix itself, is a REAL BONUS! The granular perthite (an intergrowth of albite and microcline), with a few muscovite plates, is sharply hexagonal! We suspect that it is either a pseudomorph after a VERY large beryl crystal or pseudohexagonal muscovite book. This is possibly unique combination material from this locale!
