Item Description
Rarely does one find an old Russian Aquamarine crystal for sale on the market. The specimen was collected ostensibly in the 1850's-1860's, and is one of the very few crystals of this material that I have offered. The crystal, which measures well over 3 inches, is a sharp, and well-formed, prismatic, doubly-terminated, "pencil" with a good soft "aqua blue" color. When backlit, you can see that the crystal has some characteristic color banding that ranges from lighter to darker shades of blue. Great condition overall for the material, with good luster and gemminess. A fantastic and historic crystal of this classic material. Keep in mind that before Pakistan started producing good gem Aquamarines, even decent crystals were a relatively scarce commodity on the market. A piece like this is still appreciated in today's market as these specimens are very few and far between. Valued at $1250-$1500 for the size, gemminess and historic significance.
