Aquamarine (gemmy ''floater'' crystal) (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Some of the most well-known single crystals of Aquamarine are those from the famous Jaquetô Mine in Bahia, Brazil. The combination of beautiful colors, superb gem clarity and beautiful slightly etched forms makes them icons in the gem crystal world. This piece is a classic, beautiful, very gemmy, lustrous, pale greenish-blue blue color, etched crystal of Aquamarine from this famous mine. The crystal is virtually WATER CLEAR and could certainly yield a beautiful faceted stone (though I would never condone the butchering of such a fine crystal). I love the almost rounded "bullet"-shaped termination on this one, a classic shape for Jaquetô Mine pieces. The crystal was mined in the early 1970s, and comes from the collection of Richard Kosnar, the famous mineral dealer and collector from Colorado, who had a strong presence in Brazil bringing back a large quantity of pegmatite minerals during that time. The crystal would make a great addition to any gem crystal suite, especially since gem Aquas from Brazil are truly difficult to find on the market these days. Specimen weight is 4.67 carats.
