Item Description

Over the last few decades, Pakistan has been the most productive country for specimens in the modern age of mineral collecting for top matrix display specimens of Aquamarine. Some of the very finest quality Aquamarine specimens in the world are those from around the famous Shigar Valley. This specimen features a superb quality, 2.7 cm razor-sharp, highly lustrous, FLAWLESS GEM quality soft blue color prismatic crystal of Aquamarine beautifully and aesthetically flaring out of a matrix composed of blocky white crystals of Albite with minor associated Smoky Quartz and Muscovite The piece is in great shape overall, and the only damage I can see on the display side is a contact to the Smoky Quartz crystal on the left side of the specimen. Interestingly, I put the UV light on this specimen (because I usually run it over all the specimens before we list them in the auction), and I was very surprised to see that the back edge of the specimen is actually Microcline, and not Albite, as it fluoresces a distinct blue color unlike the rest of the matrix which is Albite. A very attractive display specimen with great aesthetics and from this most prestigious of Pakistani pegmatite localities. From the collection of Brian Kosnar. Priced at $3,700 in our inventory.
