Item Description
When it comes to Aquamarine, Pakistan is the most productive country for specimens in the modern age of mineral collecting. Some of the very finest quality Aquamarine specimens come from the various pegmatites in the Pakistani Himalayas, especially the pieces from around Shigar. This locality has produced some of the most exciting Aquamarine specimens in recent years. This specimen is an excellent quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, GEM quality / WATER CLEAR soft blue color prismatic crystal of Aquamarine free of matrix. The piece is in great shape overall, with only minor roughness near the base. It's nearly transparent from end to end, only a tiny bit of visible inclusions can be seen. A very attractive gem crystals specimen from this most prestigious of Pakistani pegmatite localities. I love the first and second order pyramidal modifications on the termination. The piece weighs 9.33 grams. From the collection of noteworthy collection, Joseph A. Freilich (https://mineralogicalrecord.com/biographies_labels/freilichjoseph-a/), with a label from dealer John Betts.
