Item Description

Charming large cabinet specimen covered with glistening silver Muscovite blades that are adorned with sharp, well formed gemmy sky-blue Aquamarine crystals and a single translucent pink Fluorapatite. While Pakistan has produced numerous Aquamarine specimens and a fair amount of Fluorapatite over time, the highly desirable combination of having both minerals on one specimen, especially aesthetically perched together, is very uncommon. The engaging textural landscape of the highly detailed, pearlescent Muscovite set against the glassy hexagonal gem crystals provide a wonderful contrast and visual elegance to the piece. The dominate 2.5 cm Fluorapatite crystal is complete but does have some internal fracturing resulting in different pink hues of color throughout the crystal. The Fluorapatite also has a bright yellow SW UV fluorescence. The 4 main prismatic Aquamarine crystals appear as transparent blue ice rising above the silvery matrix with a couple showing slightly frosted terminations due to secondary minerals. The specimen's appeal is further added to by numerous clear Quartz crystals protruding across the piece as well as a late stage white sparkling druse partially coating the front view. Overall just a fantastic example from Nagar, Pakistan of a classic combination of Aquamarine on Muscovite with an additional "POP" of a pink Fluorapatite. A specimen that is characterized by its beauty and color! Ex. Jack Halpern Collection No. 2816. Note this was one of the earlier such combination pieces to come out, per the Wayne Thompson label that Jack kept with the piece.
