Item Description
Unlike Aquamarine gems from Brazil or Pakistan, the Nigerian Aquas have a richer blue color. This material is 100% natural, not heated or treated in any way. Almost all Beryl contains some kind of a chromaphore that causes the different color (i.e., iron, chromium, manganese etc) but you rarely see Beryls with this much blue in them in a 1+ carat stone. Honestly, I have only seen a few of these stones over the years, and they're always smaller, but the color is really pleasing. This stone is virtually eye clean with a "Pear" cut. A great stone for collectors, or a perfect candidate for the center stone of a pendant, especially for someone with a March birthday, as Aquamarine is the birthstone for that month.
