Item Description
A classic example of the famous Aquamarine crystals from the Shigar Valley. These pieces have found their way into collections around the world, and are regarded as some of the finest Aquas from any locality. This specimen is a good quality, highly lustrous, very sharp, well-formed, textbook hexagonal prism with a pale blue color and good overall gemminess. Minor silvery bladed Muscovite can be seen on a few sides. Some minor nicks can be seen, so the piece is not 100% damage free, but it's still a good quality representation of these beloved Aquas. The piece did not come with a specific locality, but I would guess it's probably from the Nagar / Chumar Bakhoor area based upon the style of the Muscovite. Specimen weight is 54.40 grams. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
