Item Description
Cassiterite is very uncommon from the pegmatites of Pakistan and is RARE in aesthetic combinations with aquamarine. A 1.6 cm rosette of lustrous, sharp, cassiterite crystals is elegantly set in the intersection of two, gemmy, light blue, striking and unusual, perpendicular aquamarine crystals. The vertical aqua is about 3.5 cm tall and has strange-looking, laminated etched faces. This crystal has grown around a 5.0 cm, doubly terminated aqua with strikingly different terminations! One end looks like the vertical aqua, while the other termination is water-clear gem! Weird chemistry here! The amazingly sculptural matrix is composed of intensely etched blocky albite crystals and numerous clusters of bladed cleavelandite. The nifty accessories included another 2.2 cm etched aqua, a 1.6 cm schorl section and a "book' of pearlescent muscovite plates by the 'T' aqua group. Very exotic and excellent combination material from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this fine rarity at $750, more than 5 years ago.
