Aquamarine (beautiful crystal)

Item Description

This crystal is from a find in early 1990s in the Shigar Valley of Pakistan. It's a fine quality, gemmy, sharp, lustrous, beautiful soft blue color prismatic hexagonal crystal showing both first and second order pyramidal modifications along with a fantastic smooth basal termination. Technically, you can say the crystal is doubly-terminated, as there is a small amount of another basal pinacoid face on the other end, but it's mostly contacted. The underside of the crystal does have a minor amount of bladed Muscovite. The piece comes from the collection of the well-known dealer and mineral collector Richard (Rich) Kosnar (1946-2007) of Colorado. Rich was the namesake for the phosphate Kosnarite, and built a suite of a fine quality gem mineral specimens over the years. This specimen is valued at $2,450.
