Item Description
A striking and aesthetic aquamarine and schorl specimen from the Erongos, from a 2009 pocket. The glassy aquas have intense blue color, way above normal for the locale and typically crackly interiors with very gemmy termination areas. The imposing large aqua is 8.4 cm and the aqua jauntily embedded in the termination is 3.9 cm. The ball-like cluster attached to the side of lustrous, jet-black schorls and more aquas (4.0 cm largest) really adds to the overall panache of this outstanding specimen. Overall the piece is in very fine condition, as trivial termination wear to the large aqua is barely noticeable and a small bit of contacting is out of sight on the back. This is one of the few larger examples from this find still floating around on the market, and we obtained it in an exchange recently. Valued at $2500 by a prominent dealer, and to my eye that is probably cheap considering what others of this magnitude have sold for in the past. Easily worth $2500-3500
