Aquamarine and Schorl

Aquamarine and Schorl is a classic combination piece from the Erongo Mountains. The 3 cm Aqua has very good luster and an excellent termination with beveled edges and corners. The upper 1.8 cm is very gemmy, and the color grades from a grey-blue in the lower portion to a light sky-blue nearer the termination. The 2 cm Schorl is highly lustrous, and both are contacted at the base. Interestingly, there has been some dissolution of the Aqua on the back and base, but it in no way affects the aesthetics. In fact, it adds great interest mineralogically to the specimen. A fine miniature.
