Aquamarine and Muscovite (New Find)

Item Description

Impressive large aquamarine combination plate from a New find in the well-known Nagar District. The highlight of the piece is the 7.3 cm cluster of pristine aquamarine crystals on the lower left. These crystals have fine ice-blue color and are gemmy to translucent. The 4.1 cm dominating aqua has an unusual gemmier and darker blue termination area, striated and smooth prism faces and has a frosted, stepped-growth termination. Another striking aspect is the large segmented aquamarine crystal on the center right. This large, 11.0 cm damaged crystal was broken during pocket formation by tectonic movement and muscovite plates were deposited between the two crystal sections. The huge, sculptural and colorful matrix includes more aquamarine crystal sections, jackstraw clusters of muscovite plates and contrasting bone-white feldspar. Two sides and the back have been sawed to enhance the display, Yes, this combination does have quite a bit of damage, but it remains a very large, classic, showy and highly representative aquamarine combination from the noted locale. 11.5 pounds or 5.2 kilos mass.
