Item Description
A 2.8 x 2.3, gemmy and lustrous, pretty blue aqua is aesthetically set amongst upright books of pearlescent muscovite plates. Aquamarine specimens are actually quite uncommon from Pech, which is very well-known for morganite, spodumene and tourmaline. Aquas are rare, though. If this is looked at superfically, it seems like material from Nagar in Pakistan but this is not the case on closer look at the matrix underneath, the specific form of the muscovite in person, and the odd bevelled termination of the aquamarine, all of which make it stand out from more common Nagar material. The aqua is really water-clear, especially down the C-axis. The large muscovite mica "book" is 5.2 cm across. The sculptural quality of this piece is very fine, with the aqua bracketed by contrasting muscovite; and the large "book" being isolated. Choice material from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. valued $1000-1250
