Item Description

This piece dates back to the early 2000s and is a unique rarity for Beryl. Despite the large number of places in the world where Beryl is found, it's unusual to find bi-color crystals from any locality, and it's even more captivating when you have blue Aquamarine and pink Morganite together in the same specimen. This specimen is a robust, well-formed, sharp, thick, hexagonal crystal with a "blue cap" Aquamarine termination and a wonderful light pink Morganite hue throughout the rest of the crystals. The Aqua portion of the crystal is much gemmier than the Morganite portion, and actually shows a slight "cat's eye" effect when rotated in the light. There is a distinctive cut off point where one color/clarity stops and the other begins as the Morganite section is translucent and doesn't really pass light. It's important to note that it is a great rarity to find prismatic Morganite in nature, which might be the most important aspect of the piece, since nearly all Morganite crystals are tabular. If you flip the crystal over you will see some associated white Albite, but if you look closely, there are dozens of tiny faces on the underside, which means the crystal actually healed ("re-healed") itself after it detached from the pocket wall, making this a DOUBLY-TERMINATED crystal, and nearly a complete "floater". Any collector who loves unusual and colorful gem crystals should grab this one at a bargain price. Valued at $4,000.
