Item Description
Aquamarine is the blue variety of Beryl, named after the sea. The American Gem Society states on their website that, "Roman fishermen called the gemstone “water of the sea” and used it as protection, for safe travel by boat, and for luck in catching fish. Aquamarine was linked to the apostle St. Thomas who frequently traveled by boat. Roman physicians also used it to treat overeating and bloating". Here we have a wonderful 7-stone set of "Oval Cabochon" cut gems of Aquamarine from Jos, Nigeria. The stones range from translucent to nearly opaque. A nice set for accent stones in a piece of jewelry, or as an addition to your gemstone collection.
From the old inventory of Ray Zajicek, a respected wholesaler and founding member of AGTA and the International Colored Gemstone Association, with decades of experience in the gem and jewelry business. Ray has won more than a dozen Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards (TM).
