Item Description
The best Aquamarines from this area show some of the richest blue colors seen in Beryl. It's not even fair to call them Aquamarine, they are BLUE BERYL! This is a solid 142.50 carats piece of natural, carving-grade Aquamarine, sculpted by fluids in the pocket that etched the crystal over the years after it formed. It is a floater, complete-all-around. Pictures do NOT do justice to the specimen, which is so much more attractive and with a lively saturated blue color, in person (think of rich blue Topaz from the Xanda Mine). Classic for the locality, and were it not for the dealer labels accompanying the piece stating that it was from Teofilo Otoni, I would have sworn it has from Pedra Azul. Valued at $2,850 ($20 per carat x 142.50 carats) based upon the value of the rough alone.
